In life, we experience storms and floods. And those in Southeast Texas and Louisiana are in the midst of it and Tropical Storm Harvey does not seem to be relenting.
When the storms and floods come, we must continue to press into prayer. Those who are not in it must rise up and pray for those who are.
Let’s pray:
Lord, we ask for Your hedge of protection over those who live in the area where the waters are rising. We ask for You to charge Your angels to keep watch over them and keep them safe. We ask for those who are housed in prison units in that area be kept safe—both the inmates and the guards. In Jesus name, Amen.
Next we must continue to stand on God’s promises. God is faithful and true to His Word
Psalm 91 is an excellent prayer to pray for protection. Here’s a Scripture reading of Psalm 91:
“Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, till the storms of destruction pass by” (Psalm 57:1 ESV).
But now thus says the Lord,
he who created you, O Jacob,
he who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name, you are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
and the flame shall not consume you.
For I am the Lord your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
(Isaiah 43:1-3a ESV)
For those of you who are not in a literal storm or flood, but in an emotional one, these same Scriptures are applicable. These passages have seen me through many sleepless nights and restless days.
What are some Scripture promises that you are holding onto to endure the storm?
