God gave us the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ. He was born of a virgin and lived a life without sin. God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we can become the righteousness of God (2 Cor 5:21).
After growing up, Jesus suffered and paid the debt for sin that we cannot pay. He became our substitute, which gives us eternal life with God the Father.
That, my friend, is a gift worth celebrating!
Even if that was the only gift we received, it would be sufficient. But God our Father gave us so many more gifts in Christ.
Here are some of the gifts we have from God starting with Jesus, our Savior:
1. A Savior
“And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21).
2. Love
“I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself” (Jeremiah 31:3).
3. Grace
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that is not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, lest anyone should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).
4. Peace
“I am leaving you with a gift–peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift that the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid” (John 14:27).
5. Strength
“I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13).
6. Hope
“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13).
7. The Holy Spirit
“So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him” (Luke 11:13).
These gifts we received from God will never break, rot, malfunction, or expire.
Let’s thank God for His abundant gifts we receive through Christ our Lord!
