After watching the movie Walt Before Mickey, I was inspired by how Walt Disney never gave up his dream regardless of his circumstances. He found himself homeless and hungry, yet he kept his dream alive in his heart.

As I ponder this past month of the new year, I realized I want this to be a year of significance. Significance for me, means touching lives and making a difference in my circle of influence because I have dared to dream again.

Many times, when we have incarcerated loved ones, we stop dreaming or casting vision for our lives. For me, thinking about the future was not even an option at the beginning of my prison wife journey. When my husband first went to prison, it seemed as if the whole world just stopped.

I could see life progressing for others around me, but my world felt frozen in time. It was as if time stopped and dreams ceased to exist. Even thinking about the present moment was more than I could manage.

I felt incapable of dreaming of fully living life again until my husband returned by my side.  This mindset caused me to live in isolation, which is where dreams die. My spirit was held captive and became imprisoned.

The enemy of our soul wants us to live in isolation and captivity mentally and emotionally while our loved ones are in physical captivity.

Jesus, however came to set us free!

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10 ESV).

We have a greater purpose and God has called us to greatness regardless of our situations or circumstances.

I pray the words from Isaiah 61:1 (AMP): The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, Because the Lord has anointed and commissioned me To bring good news to the humble and afflicted; He has sent me to bind up [the wounds of] the brokenhearted, To proclaim release [from confinement and condemnation] to the [physical and spiritual] captives And freedom to prisoners. AMEN!

There are amazing treasures waiting for us as we begin to take hold of our dreams once again.  God gives vision and dreams, and we have to allow ourselves to become dreamers again. We cannot let our dreams die.

Time does not stand still! How many books, songs, movies, or architectural designs are not never known because dreamers allowed their dreams die? How many ministries will not be started or mission work gone by the wayside because dreamers allowed the circumstances of life to snuff out their dreams?

For me, regardless of my circumstances, I will rise above them because I have dreams and visions given to me by my Father. Since I am made in his image, I too shall create, write, and inspire those around me.

I challenge you to Dream Again! Be significant in your circle of influence in 2018.
