For every month with 31 days, let us unite together and worship the Lord by lifting up praise—in our private times, in our work places, with our families and friends, and on social media.

I use the book by Ruth Myers called 31 Days of Praise: Enjoying God Anew. I encourage you to order one from your favorite online book retailer or visit your local Christian book store. This book contains 31 daily prayers of praise based on Scripture.

Of course, the book is optional. The Bible is full of praise Scriptures. Simply turn to the Psalms to find plenty of praise to our Lord.

Why 31 days of praise? Here are five reasons:

  1. Praise and worship is the purest form of prayer.

Stormie Omartian explained in her book, The Prayer That Changes Everything:

“Worship and praise is the purest form of prayer because it focuses our minds and souls entirely away from ourselves and on to Him.”

“So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son” (Ephesians 1:6 NLT).

  1. What we focus on becomes magnified in our lives.

Each one of us has a choice when faced with circumstances—magnify the problem or magnify God who is bigger than the problem.

Let’s magnify God with our praise.

“Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his surpassing greatness!” (Psalm 150:2 NRSV)

  1. God inhabits our praises.

Psalm 22:3 from The Passion Translation reads, “Yet I know that you are most holy; it’s indisputable. You are God-Enthroned, surrounded with songs, living among the shouts of praise of your princely people.”

When we lift up praises to our God, His presence dwells among us. And when His presence dwells among us, our thoughts change. Our attitudes are re-adjusted. Our lives change!

  1. To train ourselves to make praise a way of life.

Our natural person gravitates toward fussing and complaining. We must train ourselves to live according to the Spirit—which includes living a lifestyle of praise.

Eventually we reach a place in our spiritual maturity where praise is our natural reaction instead of criticism.

“Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies” (Psalm 103:2-4 NLT).

  1. Makes a way for miracles to happen.

When we praise God in our impossible circumstances, God shakes things up and releases us from the circumstances that bound us.

“Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off!” (Acts 16:25-26 NLT)

I witnessed miracles in the life of friend during a 31 days of praise month. Cancer disappeared before a scheduled surgery, and there was no surgery! Plus he received a refund from the surgery center! Praise makes a way where there seems to be no way!

That’s five reasons to join us for 31 days of praise.

I encourage you to order the 31 Days of Praise book to pray the prayers of praise each day of May.

Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn to share the 31 days of praise memes. Be sure to share your favorite praise Scriptures, links to your favorite praise songs, and your praise reports in the comments on the blog, on our social media–Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

Let’s offer up the purest form of prayer through praise, magnify the Lord, experience His presence, make praise a way of life, and see God’s Mighty hand open our lives to miracles!
